I’m turning my blog serious today for a topic that’s been weighing on my mind. In light of the latest information coming out about both of our presidential candidates, I want to know what is driving a person to vote for a certain candidate over the other. Is it truly the topics discussed? Is the gender? Is it appearance? Is it age? I know what the polls say but I want to know from you, my readers, what is driving voters to vote for one candidate over the other?

For me, I can’t stomach someone who views my gender as weak and is possibly just something for pleasure (depending on my looks). As a feminist, I do not want my daughter to grow up in a country that believes women are for sex and service only. I want her to really believe and have an example of exactly how much she can achieve – not because she is of the female gender but because she is truly the best person for the job. I can’t stomach a man who sexualizes his own daughter and think he’s okay to do it because he is her father.

I can’t stomach a man who makes bankruptcy court his second home but criticizes a woman for having some of the same results as he had in some of his failed businesses as a way to show why women can’t lead anything.  I can’t stomach a man who doesn’t understand race other than who he allows to work for him. I can’t stomach a man who has no filter with regard to his love of a communist leader. I can’t stomach a man who loves the limelight and the cameras but wants to deny or twist whatever he said when questioned about it.

This does not mean I was led to this decision easily. Quite the opposite in fact. I do not want a leader who believes she is the best choice for this country because it was about time a different gender lead it. I do not want a leader who may be confused over what should be confidential or not because someone else omitted regarding to it as confidential. It is my belief that one knows whether or not something should be classified or confidential and what action should happen after that determination. I do not want a leader who panders to a certain group of people simply for the fear of losing them due to the truth their opponent has revealed.

I, like so many others, are anxious for this election to be over. I felt it has ran its course and that only in the spirit of tradition, we’re waiting on November to arrive. But before it does, I still would like to know what do you think is driving voters to vote for one candidate over the other. Post it in the comments below.

Until next time, enjoy your day!
